Modules

GOVIT consists of a number of modules that can be individually selected and that are run on either the central server, the project specific servers or cloud infrastructure.

The Core CMDB
The core CMDB holds the details on your infrastructure and projects.

The core CMDB can run as a cloud component or on a private server. This means you can get started using GOVIT for free on an existing cloud solution while preserving your data integrity and security.

At a later stage you can move the GOVIT installation to your own infrastructure.

It requires access to a Oracle® or MySQL™ database and a JEE server depending on scalability requirements.

The core module is the foundation for the other modules.

User Interface
The user interface provides an authenticated interface to the configuration data.
Service Interface
The service interface is available to provide third party tools to read and update the configuration and to perform continuous integration for projects known to GOVIT.
The Automation Module
The automation module performs product configuration and deployment
The Operations Module
The operations module performs monitoring of servers, infrastructure and applications running on the servers using the configured information from the CMDB.

It also allows execution of operator actions such as VM restart.

The Product Modules
Each selected product, such as
  • Oracle® WebLogic Server
  • IBM® WebSphere® Application Server
  • Apache Tomcat
  • JBoss® Enterprise Application Platform
  • Spring Boot® microservices
and others use specialized components that perform validation and product specific configuration such as creating and configuring a WebLogic Domain or a WebSphere Cell.

Integration

A typical customer integration flow consists of a number of phases:

Proof of concept
A Proof of concept workshop is performed that selects a number of projects that are eligble for demonstrating the product capabilities.

The workshop outcome is a cap analysis document that describes the customer specific integrations as well as product changes that should be implemented.

Examples of such integrations are

  • A specific change management system
  • A specific incident management system
  • A specific cloud vendor
  • A specific authorization behaviour
  • A specific product configuration behaviour
This is performed by the GOVIT consultants with participation of customer
Integration development
The identified integration components are developed, tested and added to the installation.

This is performed by the GOVIT consultants

Project On-boarding
Additional projects are now on-boarded to GOVIT

This is performed by the GOVIT consultants with participation of customer.

The aim is to make the customer self proficient to be able to take full advantage of the product automation and simplification capabilities in order to achieve the operations savings.

Self Service
Additional projects are now on-boarded to GOVIT and new projects are easily integrated, in most cases by the developers themselves.

This is performed by the customer as needed
